On January 19th, Auto Icons with Blackbird, a soulful bar and restaurant offering live music, set in the cultural enclave of Gillman Barracks, hosted an unforgettable afternoon, bringing together families, car enthusiasts, and aspiring young artists for an immersive experience with Chris Dunlop, professionally known as Pinstripe Chris. More than just an art session, this exclusive event was a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and the shared passion for both automotive excellence and artistic expression.

Pinstripe Chris, whose real name is Chris Dunlop, is a world-renowned Californian automotive artist known for his intricate and dynamic sketching with automotive-themed artwork. He has built a reputation for his distinctive style, blending fine art techniques with automotive design, and has collaborated with car enthusiasts, luxury brands, and custom car builders worldwide. His work often features high-detail automotive sketches, vibrant color applications, and custom vehicle designs, making him a highly sought-after artist in the automotive industry.
Inspiring the Next Generation Through Art and Cars
The heart of the event was to inspire the next generation by blending two worlds - art and automobiles. Families and children, nearly 40 participants in total, had the unique opportunity to learn directly from Chris Dunlop, gaining insight into his creative process and sharpening their drawing and coloring techniques under his expert guidance. It was a rare chance for budding artists and car enthusiasts to engage with a master of automotive artistry in an intimate and hands-on setting. Tickets were priced at 21.8 SGD for adults and 10.9 SGD for kids, inclusive of a drink and the exclusive art jam session with the global automotive artist.
An Interactive Artistic Journey
From 1 PM to 4 PM, attendees participated in a structured, yet relaxed creative session designed to nurture their artistic talents. Chris led a sketching masterclass, teaching participants how to sketch the side profile of the iconic Ferrari 246GT Dino. The session was followed by a one-hour engaging coloring activity, where guests could either refine their own sketches or work on a pre-prepared outline drawn by Chris himself, offering them a fully immersive artistic experience.
The event was perfectly suited for families, with a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged children to explore their creativity. As the day progressed, Blackbird saw an increase in energy and excitement, drawing in not just families but notable automotive enthusiasts - including Porsche owners from Singapore, representatives from Porsche APAC, key opinion leaders, and even prominent figures from Hypebeast - who joined in to interact with Chris and the attendees. The event was marketed primarily through social media, word of mouth, and via WhatsApp owner group chats generating significant buzz organically, proving to be a great success without the need for extensive marketing efforts.
